ŽENY.CZ Interview — Building the Signature Style of First Lady Eva Pavlová

Excerpt from the Interview: ŽENY.CZ

Who inspired you when creating the First Lady’s new wardrobe? Am I right in sensing a touch of the British royal family?

“I looked mainly to Europe — though of course, also to the Obamas and their formal and evening style. We studied what leading figures had worn over the past two or three years and how it might resonate with Mrs. Eva Pavlová’s personal style. We observed Queen Letizia of Spain, the Macrons — and eventually arrived at Princess Diana.
Mrs. Pavlová has a similar hairstyle and feels drawn to Diana’s relaxed, sporty elegance. So we began with jeans, blazers, and shirts — the essence of effortless sophistication. Connecting those two worlds was surprisingly natural.”

“There certainly will be one, but up to this point it hasn’t been necessary, since Mrs. Pavlová was not yet the president’s wife. Instead, we focused on reading each occasion intuitively — drawing inspiration from abroad while adapting the looks to Czech settings and audiences.”

The best-dressed First Ladies often have a distinctive signature style. Do you already have a sense of what that might be for Mrs. Pavlová?

“We talked about the idea of a pantsuit — but with a modern cut. We’ll be experimenting with shades of blue, pink, and perhaps even green. Red also suits her beautifully — it wasn’t her first choice, but it eventually resonated very well.”

Looking back now — especially after the couple’s appearance at the coronation of King Charles III — these reflections and early predictions feel remarkably prescient.
